Children’s choir permission slip and explanation
Exultation Choir is open to all who are young adults or older. All levels of singing, from beginner to advanced are welcome. Every parishioner is strongly encouraged to consider joining in the great work of music ministry to enhance the liturgy. If you have ever considered being in choir, feel free to join us at our first rehearsal. I think you will find it enjoyable, but if you find that it isn’t something for you, there is no obligation. The choir sings every Sunday from September-June at alternating Sunday Masses as well as Christmas, Holy Week, Easter and other Holy Days throughout the year. Are you interested in just singing for Christmas or Easter? We welcome you also!
The Hand Bell Choir is a special choir which utilizes hand bells and is open to all who are young adults or older. The ability to read and follow music is helpful, but not required. Commitment is weekly rehearsals September through June and we perform once a month primarily at the 8:30 or 10:30 am Sunday Mass.
In our Parish and school, there are many fine singers of grade school age. Please consider if this is an activity, and a great way to praise God every week for you. Singers need to be willing to work together at rehearsal, and learn to be part of a group music program. Choir is harder than merely “singing along” with a tape or music group. Each singer needs to learn his or her part very well, and blend-in singing with others. We will learn music to sing at one Sunday Mass per month, including Christmas Eve and Easter Sunday. For those who remain active participants during the season, we typically end the choir year with a pizza party. Come to choir, and bring a friend!
Parents will need to fill out a permission slip.
People interested in working with the Music Director as accompanists for Mass sharing their God given talents are encouraged to do so. Instruments of all types are needed: wind, strings, wood and brass, especially to enhance the high times in the Liturgical calendar.
Cantors are needed for Saturday evening Mass and special services such as weddings, funerals and holidays. If you have a strong singing voice, with an ability to lead the congregation, you are encouraged to contact the Music Director. Detailed training is provided.
