ASH WEDNESDAY OR/AND VALENTINE’S DAY?

This year February 14th is not only Valentine’s Day but also Ash Wednesday. So, what does that look like and how can we celebrate Valentine’s Day?

Ash Wednesday takes precedence over Valentine’s Day given the importance of it in our faith lives, so despite it being a holiday, we must still fast and abstain from meat. There are many other ways we can celebrate our loved ones this day through cards, flowers, prayers, and quality time. If you want to go out to a nice dinner or enjoy some chocolate, celebrate Valentine’s Day a few days earlier! We are positive St. Valentine will understand!
